How to Deactivate Facebook Messenger https://beebom.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/02/deactivate-facebook-messenger-guide.jpg

deactivate facebook messenger guide

There comes a time when you just have to leave Facebook to remain sane and you eventually deactivate Facebook in hope that you would be away from all the inanities of social media. However, Facebook being deceptive as always, doesn’t deactivate Facebook Messenger after deactivating the Facebook account. You have to go one step further and deactivate the Messenger separately. So here we are with a simple guide to deactivate Facebook Messenger completely so that you can finally attain nirvana.

Deactivate Facebook Messenger

  • First of all, make sure you have deactivated your Facebook account either from the app or the website. Next, open the Facebook Messenger app and tap on your profile picture on the top-left side. Now scroll down and open Legal and Policies section. Of all the places, Facebook chose to put Deactivation option under Legal and Policies section. Good job with you deceptive tactics, Facebook. Nonetheless moving to the next step.

deactivate facebook messenger step 1 image

  • On the bottom, you will see the Deactivate Messenger option. Tap on it and then it will ask for a confirmation. Finally, tap the Deactivate button and you are done. Facebook Messenger will be deactivated instantly and won’t activate unless you log in to your Facebook or Messenger account.

deactivate facebook messenger step 2 image

Keep in mind that deactivating Messenger doesn’t delete your messages, it just makes your account invisible to other users and you won’t be able to send or receive messages. In case you want to get back to Messenger, you can log in later and use it like nothing happened.

Also, after deactivation, if you decide to log in back to Messenger only, your Facebook Account will be activated too. Yes, Facebook works in mysterious ways and we gotta deal with it.

Note: If you want to completely delete your Facebook account with Messenger and everything related to Facebook, you can go through our complete guide on how to delete your Facebook account. But after this, there is no turning back.

Limit Your Facebook Messenger Usage

If the reason you’re thinking of deactivating messenger is simply because you just find yourself spending too much time on the app, there are some other options you can consider as well. There’s Screen Time on iOS, and Digital Wellbeing on a bunch of Android phones that you can use to limit your time using Messenger. So, here’s how you can use those features to control your Messenger usage.

Digital Wellbeing on Android

Google released Digital Wellbeing in 2018 which comes as part of Android Pie. You can use many of its features to limit your time on smartphone and set timers for individual apps. After you have used an app for a certain amount of time, it will block the app including its notifications too. This feature is set to bring a better and healthy lifestyle to smartphone users, and in this case, blocking Facebook Messenger may bring a positive outcome for you.

  • To access Digital Wellbeing, open Settings, and scroll down to Digital Wellbeing. Open it and you will have the complete picture of your smartphone usage. Now, tap on Dashboard to get a list of apps on your smartphone.

limit facebook messenger digital wellbeing step 1

  • Here, look for Facebook Messenger and set timer by tapping on the right side. You can choose the pre-configured timer or create your own custom timer as well. After setting the timer, close the settings and you are done. Facebook Messenger will be blocked after you cross the time limit.

Stay Focused

While Digital Wellbeing is great, it works only on select Android Pie devices. To get a similar feature on older versions of Android you can use Stay Focused app. This app uses accessibility permission to block selected apps, so give the accessibility permission in the beginning.

  • First, search for the messenger app and open it. Before setting the timer, it will show an unlocked sign on the left side.

limit facebook messenger stay focused step 1 image

  • After selecting the app, it will give you a couple of options including Usage Time. Select it and choose your preferred time on the next screen. After that, just tap on the Save button on the top right side and you are all set. The Messenger app will be blocked based on your usage time.

limit facebook messenger stay focused step 2 image

Screen Time on iOS

Similar to Digital Wellbeing, Apple introduced Screen Time with iOS 12. It’s a great feature to make your life much more disciplined and productive. Screen Time has a long list of features and you can further personalize it to your liking and need. If your iPhone or iPad is running iOS 12, this is how it will work.

  • Open Settings and tap on Screen Time. There, you will find a lot of options, just tap on the text that says ‘Your iPhone’ and proceed further.

limit facebook screen time step 1 image

  • Here, scroll down to the Messenger app and open it. Now, tap on Add limit at the bottom and assign the time limit.

  • Finally, tap on Add button on the top-right side to save the changes. Now, the Messenger app will be blocked after you reach the time limit.

In the following 5 years, to which we will be referring to as the 5G 2.0 era, smartphones are predicted to be able to achieve more mature AI functions to connect a much wider range of devices,” Lau is quoted as saying about the development of 5G.

With the well-established infrastructure and diverse smart devices in the market after 10 years, we’ll be embracing the era of 5G 3.0, where everything is smartly interconnected and a truly burden-less experience can be achieved. The service will be there only when you need it, and be on standby out of your way when not needed.” – Pete Lau

Spotify India Pricing Spotted; Starts at Just Rs 129/Month https://beebom.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/01/Spotify-Confidentially-Filed-IPO-Documents-in-December-Might-Go-Public-in-2018-.jpg

Spotify

We’ve been hearing reports about Spotify’s impending India launch for months now. And now, when news of Spotify taking a highly aggressive stance against Warner Music have cropped up just yesterday, we have got our hands on the India pricing.

Yes, this is an exciting moment for melophiles who had been waiting on the India pricing for the biggest music streaming service. We’ve stumbled upon the pricing while trying to create a new Spotify account, where you can now choose your country to be India.

The Premium subscription prices for India will then be displayed when you pick the free 30-day trial option. I can’t be more excited to tell you that Spotify Premium in India would supposedly starts at just Rs 129 per month (and only Rs 119/ month for the first month when you’re picking the free trial).

In addition to the monthly subscription plans, Spotify is looking to attract Indian masses simply by giving them the option to try out their Premium service for as low as Rs 13 per day. Yes, you could pick up a daily, weekly and fortnightly subscription for the streaming service.

And if you’re extremely committed to Spotify, there are six-month and yearly Premium subscription plans available for Rs and Rs 1189 (Rs 99/month) respectively. I know which subscription pack I’m gonna pick.

As for the payment options, you can see in the screenshots attached below that you can either use your debit/credit card to pick the Premium subscription but Spotify has added Paytm and UPI payment methods to the mix for added convenience.

What’s even better, especially for people direly waiting for Spotify for launching in India, you can pick a subscription right away. This looks to be a glitch on the streaming giant’s end but Akshay was able to pick the Rs 13 daily subscription with ease, completing the payment through Paytm.

The Spotify Premium subscription plans for India going live only further adds fuel to the fact the streaming giant could finally land in the country really soon. Fingers crossed, I hope it’s tomorrow or today itself. It will be the biggest surprise for us.

How do you like the India pricing for Spotify Premium? Should Apple Music and popular local music streaming be worried? Let us know your opinions in the comments below.

Nubia Alpha Foldable Smartphone Wearable Launched Starting at €449 https://beebom.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/02/Untitled-design-11.jpg

Nubia Alpha smartphone wearable launched

We’re just one day into the biggest smartphone extravaganza and foldable displays have been an awe-inspiring attraction at the MWC 2019 show floor. While most phone makers showed off a folding smartphone-tablet device, Nubia decided to launch the Nubia Alpha, its foldable smartphone-watch combo at the conference. We had got our first look at this very unique concept at IFA last year.

Price and Availability

The base Bluetooth-only variant of the Nubia Alpha has been priced at €449 whereas the eSIM variant will retail at €549. These two watches will be the stainless steel variant, but if you want something shiny and fancy, well, you will have to shell out another €100. The 18K Gold stainless steel variant will run you €649.

Nubia Alpha will become available in Europe and North America in the second half of 2019.

Nubia Alpha: Specs

The Nubia Alpha is designed to be a smartwatch, packing all of the functionality that one expects to find in a full-fledged smartphone. It combines everything from a small screen, camera, and battery into the wearable form factor.

Nubia Alpha smartphone wearable launched

The Nubia Alpha sports a 4-inch flexible OLED screen, with a 960×192 pixels display resolution and it might look odd at first but you can easily watch videos in an ultra-wide view here. The device runs Nubia’s custom AlphaOS, which packs almost every app you could think of, including a gallery and video app.

Nubia has also tried to revamp how you interact with the Nubia Alpha via A.I.M, i.e the Air Interaction Mechanism, where you don’t even need to touch the screen to control the smartphone wearable. It includes a complete dialer app, speaker and microphone for calling on the move – that too in a private mode. You can even place a video call via the 5MP camera on the Nubia Alpha.

This wearable smartphone is powered by the Snapdragon Wear 2100 chipset, which obviously is an old chipset that was launched back in 2016 and I’m kind of skeptical of its performance. This is coupled with 1GB of RAM and 8GB of internal storage. It packs all of the sensors necessary for sports tracking, heart rate monitoring, sleep monitoring, and a lot more.

Nubia Alpha includes a 500mAh battery pack, which the company states would easily last you up to 2 days on regular use. The smartwatch will provide you up to 14 hours of music playback and up to 5 hours of voice calling over the eSIM (10 hours on Bluetooth).

So, what are your opinions on the Nubia Alpha? Does the smartphone wearable intrigue you? Let us know in the comments below.

Spotify Releases Strong Statement After Warner Music Sues to Delay India Launch https://beebom.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/01/shutterstock_702303082-e1547210824649.jpg

Top 10 Spotify Alternatives You Can Try (2019)

After Warner Music Group (WMG) sued it over licensing rights in India, Spotify today said the WMG has revoked a previously agreed publishing licence for reasons wholly unrelated to the company’s upcoming launch in India.

Spotify, which was set to launch its services in India within a few weeks, hit a hurdle when the music label WMG filed for an injunction in a Mumbai court earlier during the day — in an attempt to leverage Warner/Chappell Music’s (WCM) local Indian publishing rights.

According to a Spotify spokesperson, the WMG instructed the WCM to seek an injunction in an attempt to leverage the WCM’s local Indian publishing rights, to extract concessions in the WMG’s global renewal negotiations for musical recordings.

All other major labels and publishers have agreed on economics and to license their music, and Spotify has also entered into a licence with the local collecting society, while the WCM remains the lone hold-out needed for a Spotify launch in India,” the spokesperson said.

Spotify, which has over 200 million users globally, had planned to launch its service next month in India where music streaming platforms like Gaana, JioSaavn, Apple Music and Amazon Music rule the turf.

Spotify has already secured a licensing agreement with T-Series that has a huge library of songs. The WMG, on the other hand, has some big-ticket artists like Katy Perry and Led Zeppelin in its kitty.

The WMG’s abusive behaviour would harm many non-Warner artists, labels and publishers, and prevent Spotify from competing in the market, leaving us no choice but to file for a statutory licence,” the spokesperson said.

According to Spotify, the statutory licence, which allows for application to Internet-based services, prevents the WMG’s abusive practices, while ensuring all rights holders are compensated fairly.

Under the statutory licence, Spotify will pay the WCM and their rights holders rates that are in-line with rates Spotify agreed to pay the leading Indian music entities, ensuring that everyone involved will benefit from the new audiences and significant revenue the Indian market will bring.

We will continue to assess our options at this stage,” the Spotify spokesperson said.
