Down 17%, iPhone Sales Drop at Record Pace https://beebom.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/10/iphone-xs-review-featured.jpg

Apple posted better earnings and revenue than Wall Street expected for the March 2019 quarter — even as sales of its flagship iPhones were $6.5 billion lighter in the period, down by 17 per cent.

iPhones sales fell at their steepest-ever rate during the three months to the end of March but are showing signs of stabilising, the BBC reported.

Apple lifted its outlook for the three months to June, sending its shares over 5 per cent higher in after-hours trading.

The company had warned on iPhones sales earlier this year, citing China where Apple competes with cheaper rivals such as Huawei Technologies and Xiaomi.

Apple chief executive Tim Cook though said sales were stronger towards the end of March, including in China where it cut iPhone prices to boost demand.

For the quarter ended March 30, which is Apple’s fiscal year 2019 second quarter, the company reported revenue of $58.0 billion, down 5 per cent from the year-ago quarter, and earnings per diluted share of $2.46, down 10 per cent.

Wall Street analysts’ consensus estimates had projected Apple to report revenue of $57.37 billion and EPS of $2.36. Apple’s stock rose over 5 per cent in after-hours trading.

While iPhone revenue fell, to $31.05 billion, Apple’s Services segment — which includes the App Store, Apple Music, iCloud, Apple Care and Apple Pay — generated quarterly record revenue of $11.5 billion, up 16 per cent.

According to the CEO, Apple had 390 million paid subscriptions at the end of March, up 30 million in the last quarter.

Apple is also attempting to shift its reliance on the iPhone towards services and last month unveiled its new TV streaming platform, Apple TV+, to take on the likes of more established companies such as Netflix.

Services revenue rose to $11.4 billion from $9.8 billion in the same quarter last year.

Top 5 Announcements From Facebook’s F8 2019 Developer Conference https://beebom.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/04/facebook-f8-featured-image.jpg

facebook f8 top announcements

Facebook’s F8 conference is currently underway in San Jose, California and it’s the 10th edition of the social media giant’s developer gathering. Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg today took the stage to defend the numerous privacy implications which surfaced in the past year and how privacy is now the company’s central focus.

During his keynote address, Zuckerberg outlined Facebook’s vision for building a privacy-focused messaging and social networking platform. He joked that Facebook may not have the best reputation on the privacy front at the moment, but that isn’t stopping them from trying to improve the social experience for users.

The resounding message that everyone, including Mark, seemed to propagate during the keynote was that ‘The future is private’ and Facebook is going to build a privacy-focused social platform that people want. Messaging apps will be the foundation of this new vision, as revealed on stage. So let’s check out the 5 key announcements from F8 2019, starting with Messenger itself.

5 Key Takeaway from Facebook’s F8 2019 Conference

1. Messenger Takes Center Stage

Since Messenger will be leading Facebook’s privacy-focused plan, the company seems to have gone back to the drawing board and built its messaging app to be lighter and faster than before. Codenamed LightSpeed, the new messenger app (coming later this year) is under 30MB in size and loads in about 1.2 seconds from a cold start.

Another major addition comes in the form of Messenger coming to the desktop. Yes, we today saw Facebook announce the official Messenger desktop app for both Mac & Windows users. It has been one of the most user-requested features, stated Zuckerberg during the keynote and will start rolling out in fall later this year.

Facebook is bringing a new ‘Friends’ tab to Messenger as well and it will solely show you private updates from friends – be it from Facebook or Instagram stories. You can set an emoji status, call and message friends on Instagram and WhatsApp (which falls in line with rumors that Facebook may be looking to integrate and make its messaging app interoperable) from this dedicated space as well.

Finally, Messenger adds a Watch Together feature that allows users to extend the video calling experience. You will soon be able to discover and watch videos with friends right within the Messenger app, which is great for teens and long-distance couples.

2. Minor WhatsApp Upgrades

WhatsApp has always been big on privacy, so Facebook didn’t really have much to talk about here, except for the introduction of product catalogs in WhatsApp Business. The business will now be able to show you all the products available with them privately & operate without even a website in place.

Zuckerberg also briefly talked about WhatsApp Payments, which is based on India’s UPI payments system, is being tested with 1 million users in India. Facebook plans to launch the payments feature to newer locations in the coming months.

3. Facebook Redesign

Facebook is placing more importance on groups, putting them first, and Zuckerberg on stage said that the platform is getting a major facelift to reflect the same.

The social media giant now aims to make “communities as central as friends” and your ‘Groups’ tab the top, both on the newly redesigned and all-white app and website, will reinforce this idea. The redesign has been termed as FB5 and it’s ‘simpler, faster, more immersive’ than the company’s previous efforts.

Zuckerberg was greeted with catcalls and joyful remarks when he revealed that the new redesigned app will be available to US and Canada users right away, with a global rollout scheduled for late this half.

“This is The biggest change to the Facebook app and website in last 5 years,” said Zuckerberg.

With the new Groups tab, Facebook is making it simpler for users to discover new groups and communities based on their interests and they’ll see content from relevant groups in other sections of the platform such as marketplace and gaming tabs. Facebook also wants to make it possible for users to ‘meet new friends’ from shared communities like a school, workplace or city. Meet New Friends is currently under testing in selected locations and is going to rollout later this year.

4. Instagram Improvements

Instagram’s camera is getting a much-needed upgrade, where you will no longer need to start with a photo or video while posting stories. You’ll soon see a new ‘Create’ tab inside the camera interface and you can choose from the question, polling, text, or other sticker options.

Donation stickers are also being introduced today to make it possible to hold fundraisers directly in Stories.

Instagram Shopping has been on the rise and the F8 2019 conference reinforces the same with the introduction of a dedicated Shop section in the Explore tab and the ability to shop directly from your favorite creator’s page. Instead of screengrabbing goods and searching them online, you’ll soon be able to tap a creator’s picture to see the product and checkout from within the app.

5. Oculus Quest

Facebook has today announced its much-awaited standalone ‘Oculus Quest’ VR headset at its F8 2019 developer conference. It’s the company’s first all-in-one VR gaming system, as they’re calling it, and you can now truly move about in the virtual space after putting on a Quest headset.

We also saw the company unveil the Oculus Rift S, which is an upgrade to their existing tethered VR headset that needs to be connected to a powerful gaming rig to operate. The Oculus Rift S brings along with it a higher resolution display, improved optics, and a mixed reality experience via the camera on the front and a feature called Passthrough+.

Both the Oculus Quest and Oculus Rift S will retail at the same price, i.e $399 and are now up for pre-order. These new headsets will start shipping May 21.

So, that’s pretty much all of the major announcements coming from Facebook’s F8 2019 keynote. What feature or hardware upgrade are you most excited for? Is it Facebook app and desktop redesign or Messenger’s new Friends tab? Let us know your thoughts in the comments down below.

Samsung’s Q1 Profits Fall 60%; Galaxy S10 Selling Strong Though https://beebom.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/03/galaxy-s10-plus-display-image.jpg

galaxy s10 plus display image

Hit by weak demand in the memory chips and displays department, Samsung Electronics has today reported a massive 60% drop in operating profit (year-on-year) in the first quarter of 2019. The company, however, said the newly-launched Galaxy S10 smartphone lineup is generating solid sales.

Samsung posted an operating profit of 6.2 trillion won (roughly $5.4 billion) – down from 15.64 trillion won (roughly $13.4 billion) last year – and quarterly revenue of 52.4 trillion won which fell 13.5% in comparison to last year’s final quarter. In its official press release, Samsung justified the same saying,

“The Semiconductor business saw a drop in memory chip prices as inventory adjustments continued at data center companies, while demand for high-density memory for mobile phones increased thanks to new flagship smartphones.”

On a positive note, Samsung said that it expects limited improvement in the memory chip market in the second quarter as demand will likely improve for major applications such as mobile products but price declines will likely continue.

The display panel business reported a quarterly loss due to decreased demand for flexible displays and increasing market supplies for large displays. Talking about the IT & Mobile Communications (IM) division, Samsung revealed that it shipped 78 million smartphones and five million tablets in the quarter.

However, despite solid sales of the Galaxy S10, overall profitability in the mobile business declined (YoY) as competition intensified in the low- to mid-range segment. Samsung said it will further strengthen its product line-up through innovations, such as Galaxy S10 5G and Galaxy A80 and continued reorganization of its product offerings.

Galaxy A80 Featured ImageFor the second half, Samsung will take the intensified competition head-on and expects its smartphones sales to increase led by new models in all segments from the Galaxy A series to the Galaxy Note amid strong seasonality. The Korean company further adds that “In the premium segment, the company will strengthen its leadership through the new Galaxy Note as well as its innovative products such as 5G and foldable smartphones.”

It means Samsung’s much-awaited foldable device “Galaxy Fold” which didn’t really have the triumphant launch the Korean giant may have expected, with cracking screen left and right, may arrive in the later part of the year. Sales of its premium TVs such as QLED TVs and ultra-large size models contributed to (YOY) earnings growth in Consumer Electronics division, the company added.

Samsung is now banking on a bounce-back for its semiconductor department and higher demand for flexible displays. What are your thoughts on this massive nosedive? Leave us your thoughts in the comments below.

7 Best Pop-up Camera Smartphones in 2019 https://beebom.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/04/1-vivo-v15-featured-image.jpg

What started out with a massive number of notch copycats, has now flourished the era of almost bezel-less smartphones, now available even in the sub-Rs 10,000 price bracket in India. However, phone makers still aren’t satisfied and the aim of trimming bezels has led to newer implementations like the hole-punch or pop-up cameras.

We’ve seen a couple of smartphones, including the Galaxy S10 lineup and Honor View 20 adopt the hole-punch, but the pop-up camera trend seems to be catching more heat and we’re going to see an onslaught of devices with the pop-up camera in the coming weeks. Vivo and Oppo, the pioneers of the pop-up trend, are leading the pack right now with the Korean giant Samsung dipping its toes into the market with its own innovative take.

So, if you’re not the biggest fan of the notch, not even the waterdrop notch, and can live with mechanical moving parts on your smartphone, then you’re in the right place. We’ve compiled a list of the best pop-up camera smartphones for you right here:

List of Best Pop-up Camera Smartphones

1. Vivo V15 Pro

Vivo is known to have kicked off the motorized pop-up selfie camera trend the previous year with the Vivo NEX (also ranks in the list but down below) but is now subsidizing its innovation by making it accessible to the masses with Vivo V15 Pro. The phone maker is confident in its pop-up mechanism and has gone all out with the inclusion of a 32MP (f/2.0) sensor that opens up in just under 0.50 seconds.

vivo v15 pro first impressions - packs all latest innovations

The pop-up selfie camera also brings in tow Face Unlock, rising rapidly and taking you to the homescreen under a second. Apart from this, you’ll get a 48MP+8MP+5MP triple-lens setup on the rear to click some awesome shots. The smartphone has a bezel-less display, has been powered by the Snapdragon 675 SoC, and brings all other features you expect from a modern device – except for a USB Type-C port.

Buy Vivo V15 Pro from Amazon (Rs 28,990)

2. Samsung Galaxy A80

Well, it might come as a surprise but Samsung has also stepped up its innovative efforts with the launch of the Galaxy A80. It’s the first smartphone to come with a rotating camera in a sliding module. The idea is similar to what we’ve seen on the Oppo N3 in the past, making it possible to use the 48MP+8MP ultra-wide+TOF depth camera as the front camera.

Apart from the rotating triple-camera setup, the Galaxy A80 sports a bezel-less 6.7-inch display and is powered by the Snapdragon 730 chipset. There’s an in-display fingerprint sensor, 25W fast-charging and more on board, however, the speed and mechanics of the rotating camera module has everyone wary. We will need to go hands-on with this device before passing judgment.

Expected to Launch in India Soon

3. Vivo V15

If all you really want it to flaunt a smartphone with a pop-up selfie camera, just for the heck of it, and don’t really want to splurge a lot, then the Vivo V15 would be your best pick. It offers the same 32MP motorized pop-up camera we’ve seen on its elder sibling – the Vivo V15 Pro. This pop-up module is also pretty snappy and sturdy, opens in under 0.50 seconds but with no Face Unlock in tow.

The highlight of this smartphone may be a pop-up selfie camera, but the hardware that goes along with it isn’t sub-par as well. You get a massive 6.5-inch Full-HD+ bezel-less display with no notch-related intrusions. The Vivo V15 is powered by the MediaTek Helio P70 chipset, coupled with up to 6GB of RAM and 128GB of storage. There’s a triple-lens setup on the rear, featuring a 24MP primary sensor, 8MP ultra wide-angle lens, and 5MP depth sensor.

4. Oppo F11 Pro

If you’re still looking for an affordable smartphone with a pop-up camera, then the Oppo F11 Pro is also a pretty worthy contender – sitting right next to Vivo V15. The Oppo F11 Pro’s selfie camera is a 16MP (f/2.0) shooter that would help you click some pretty awesome photos. Unlike Vivo, Oppo has centered the pop-up camera, aligning it with the rear cameras, to bring symmetry to the overall design.

Apart from this, Oppo F11 Pro features a tall 6.53-inch bezel-less screen, is powered by MediaTek’s Helio P70 chipset, sports a 48MP primary rear camera, a physical fingerprint sensor (though I would’ve loved an in-display one), and a massive 4,000mAh battery. It hosts a microUSB port, with 20W VOOC charging support though.

If you’re a Marvel Avengers fan and are ready to splurge a little extra, then the Oppo F11 Pro Avengers Edition could further pique your interest in this smartphone.

Buy Oppo F11 Pro from Amazon (Rs 24,990)

5. Oppo Reno

Just when we thought notches or pop-up cameras couldn’t get weird, Oppo has launched its newest lineup – Oppo Reno and it carries a wedge-shaped, shark fin-like pop-up camera. The company has baked into the motorized pop-up a 16MP (f/2.0) sensor, which takes a second at least to open from one edge, and houses the rear soft flashlight as well. There isn’t much delay in the pop-up process and it’s pretty decent.

As for other hardware specs, the Oppo Reno is powered by the Snapdragon 710 chipset, coupled with up to 8GB LPDDR4x RAM and 256GB UFS 2.1 storage. There’s Android Pie-based ColorOS 6.0 and a minimum of 3,765mAh Li-ion battery on board.

While the standard Oppo Reno hosts a dual rear-camera setup with a 48MP(f/1.7) Sony IMX586 sensor and 5MP (f/2.4) depth sensor, there’s also a 10x Zoom variant launched with a third 13MP (f/3.0) telephoto/periscope camera system onboard.

Expected to Launch in India Soon

6. Vivo NEX

Well, Vivo NEX is the smartphone that started it all. It kicked off the pop-up camera trend to make it possible for users to enjoy a bezel-less experience while still being able to click selfies. Though a first-generation smartphone, the NEX is still a great option for users who are looking to buy a powerful device with a pop-up camera, which is an 8MP(f/2.0) sensor.

The Vivo NEX is a flagship smartphone with a tall 6.6-inch Full-HD+ bezel-less AMOLED screen. It is powered by the Snapdragon 845 chipset, coupled with up to 8GB RAM and 256GB internal storage. There’s a dual-camera module on the rear, with a 12MP (f/1.8) primary sensor and 5MP (f/2.4) sensor, and you can read our in-depth review right here.

Buy Vivo NEX from Amazon (Rs 39,990)

7. Oppo Find X

And finally, we have Oppo’s ambitious effort at creating a fluid and flawless smartphone with no visible camera – either on the front or the rear. We went hands-on with the Oppo Find X earlier last year and the motorized module which raised the upper half of the body was pretty innovative and impressive. Oppo baked a primary 16-megapixel f/2.0 sensor, and a 20-megapixel f/2.2 secondary sensor on the rear, along with a 25MP selfie camera.

Moving on from the pop-up cameras, the Oppo Find X is yet another flagship smartphone with a curved bezel-less display and Snapdragon 845 chipset in tow. You get fast-charging and all the modern features you expect to see in a smartphone here.

Buy Oppo Find X from Flipkart (Rs 58,990)

Upcoming Pop-up Camera Phones

The race to further diminish the bezels is still on and more phone makers are looking to board the hype train in the coming month. It’s an

1. OnePlus 7 Pro

Well, if you haven’t been living under a rock for weeks, you would’ve heard that OnePlus has decided to expand its lineup with the OnePlus 7 and we cannot be more excited. The Chinese giant will be launching two smartphones next month, one a flagship killer which will be a minor upgrade over the OnePlus 6T and another a true flagship to rival likes of iPhone XR and Galaxy S10e.

Called the OnePlus 7 Pro, this flagship smartphone will feature a pop-up selfie camera & triple cameras with a 48MP primary lens on the rear. It’s also bringing in tow an updated Quad-HD+ AMOLED display with 90Hz refresh rate, as per the rumor mill. Plus, you’ll get Snapdragon 855 and 30W Warp Charging as well.

2. Redmi Flagship

Ever since Redmi spun out from being a lineup to a sub-brand of Xiaomi, the chatter for Redmi’s flagship being in the works caught heat. Well, it seems the rumors were true as Redmi recently teased on Weibo that it will launch a new smartphone with a pop-up selfie camera. There’s no official word on the hardware specs yet but we expect it to be Redmi’s first flagship smartphone and it should be coming in May itself.

3. Realme Flagship

Finally, the Chinese brand giving Xiaomi a run for its money in the budget segment now also seems to be gearing up to take on its budget flagship – the Poco F1 or its successor with the launch of a Snapdragon 855-powered smartphone and a pop-up selfie camera.

As per the TENNA listing and rumor mill, Realme is soon launching a flagship and it will possibly sport a 6.5-inch display with no notch or hole-punch. I expect Realme to include a 32MP pop-up selfie camera and 48MP SonyIMX586 primary sensor on the rear. The screenshot captured from a teaser video shows a module similar to that of the Oppo F11 Pro.

Apart from this, the TENNA listing revealed the dimensions and the battery size (3,680 mAh) of the Realme flagship. There’s still doubt about whether it will be powered by the Snapdragon 855 or not, but if that’s the case then Poco needs to worry about its newly-established market share.

7 Best Pop-up Camera Smartphones in 2019

While we expected phone makers to carry forward the hole-punch trend to further trim bezels in 2019, it appears like the pop-up camera is gaining more traction and attention from them. Vivo and Oppo have both readily accepted the trend with open arms, but its fiercest competitors including Redmi and Realme are also ready to offer users the same technology – possibly at an even affordable price.

So, which of the aforementioned pop-up camera smartphones catches your fancy? Leave your thoughts and picks in the comments below.

How often do you shoot videos on your smartphone? Probably not a lot, but when you do, I’m sure you’ve been left wondering if you could make your videos more attractive, or maybe just add some special effects without having to learn incredibly complicated and pro-level software. Well, that’s where LIKE app comes in. Based out of Singapore, LIKE is an app that brings special effects, and video editing to your fingertips right on your smartphone. Here are the most impressive features of the app:

Key Features:

Simply swipe over to the ‘Magic’ option in the recording screen, and choose one of the many many ‘colorful hair’ options in the app. Once you’ve selected a template, LIKE will use AR to apply it to your hair. It’s also pretty good at tracking your hair, but I did notice that it also worked on George, whose head is shaved, and I’m not sure why that is. Still, the feature itself definitely works decently well enough.

Realme Flagship with Snapdragon 855 Spotted https://beebom.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/04/realme-flagship-snapdragon-855-spotted-tenaa.jpg

realme flagship snapdragon 855 spotted tenaa

In light of Xiaomi’s confirmation of a Redmi flagship smartphone with a Snapdragon 855 among other high-end specs, it looks like Realme is also gearing up to launch something to compete against Xiaomi’s offering — expected to be the Redmi 2 Pro in China, and the Poco F2 in India and global markets.

The leak comes from a listing spotted on TENAA, and it gives away quite a bit about the phone. First off, the TENAA listing reveals that the upcoming Realme flagship will pack in the Snapdragon 855 SoC, which automatically puts it right next to whatever it is that Xiaomi will launch. Along with that, the Realme phone is expected to pack in a 48MP rear camera (with probably the Sony IMX586 sensor instead of the Samsung ISOCELL sensor) which should result in more detailed photos from the phone.

It’s also expected that the phone will come with a 6.5-inch display, even though we’re not sure if it’ll be an LCD or AMOLED panel. It looks like the phone will come with a 3,680 mAh battery, and an in-display fingerprint scanner as well.

According to leaked images of the phone, there’s no notch anywhere in sight, which hints at a pop-up selfie camera on the upcoming Realme flagship, similar to what Xiaomi has today confirmed in a teaser for the Redmi flagship. Other than that, the Realme phone is expected to launch in China for 2,999 Yuan (approximately Rs. 31,000). At that price, the Realme phone will definitely compete against the upcoming OnePlus flagships, but also against the Redmi 2 Pro (or the Poco F2, when it launches in India). There’s currently no word on launch dates, but the device appearing on TENAA does hint that a China launch might be imminent.

Redmi Flagship Official Teaser Is Here: Avengers’ Special Edition Expected https://beebom.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/04/redmi-2-pro-poco-f2-teaser-avengers-featured.jpg

redmi 2 pro poco f2 teaser avengers featured

Rumors about a Redmi smartphone with flagship specs have been doing the rounds for quite some time now, and we’re even hoping for the phone to be launched in India as the Poco F2. While so far, the only confirmation we had about the Redmi flagship phone were basically rumors, and one confirmation from Xiaomi VP Lu Weibing on Weibo, we now have an official teaser for the Redmi flagship, shared, once again, on Chinese social media platform Weibo.

The teaser shows off all the latest phones in the Redmi series, including the Redmi 7, Note 7, and Note 7 Pro, interspersed with clips from Avengers: Endgame. At the very end, however, we get a glimpse of the upcoming phone’s silhouette and a selfie camera popping out of the frame.

This goes in line with previous rumors about the upcoming Redmi flagship (and hopefully the Poco F2) having a pop-up selfie camera, which means there’ll be no notch on this phone, which is great, other than the likely loss of the IR face scanner that is beloved by users of the Poco F1.

Other than that, the caption for the teaser mentions “Avengers 4: The Final Battle” (translated with Google Translate) which leads us to think that the phone might come in a special Avengers edition as well. While the teaser doesn’t reveal anything about the phone, other than the pop-up selfie camera, rumors around the phone suggest that it will be launched as the Redmi Pro 2 in China, and probably the Poco F2 in global markets, including India.

Google Chrome Download Manager Extensions

There are two types of  download manager Chrome extensions that are available. Standalone Download Manager Chrome Extensions

1. Chrono Download Manager

Chrono Download Manager is simply the best download manager Chrome extension. It has got all the useful features and works exceptionally well. Generally, standalone extensions don’t work as good as a separate program, but in our testing, it was pretty stable and performed without any lag. The download process is simple and intuitive. All you have to do is click on a link, and it will start downloading the file right away. You can find all your downloads by clicking on the extension on the top-right corner.

1. Chrono Download Manager

Besides, we stopped and resumed pending downloads multiple times, and it didn’t break the connection so that’s great. Chrono Download Manager supports all kinds of files either it’s video, image, zip, etc. In addition, there is an extension filter which lets you customize the type of files it will download. All in all, it’s a complete chrome download manager in itself and works for the most part.

Online Download Manager is another extension in our list which is decent and provides a few basic controls to the user. 5. Internet Download Manager

Internet Download Manager is arguably the most popular download manager on Windows which supports all major browsers including Chrome. There is an IDM extension which integrates with Chrome and allows IDM to seamlessly intercept download links from the browser. The best part about IDM is that it accelerates the download speed using Dynamic Segmentation technology and it’s one of the fastest out there. Apart from that, the IDM extension can parse all types of media files including video, audio, image, etc. So yes, you can easily download videos from YouTube and other popular websites.

OnePlus 7 Pro Gets the Same DisplayMate Score as the Galaxy S10 Plus https://beebom.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/04/oneplus-7-pro-featured.jpg

oneplus 7 pro 5 things we know

Chinese smartphone manufacturer OnePlus is gearing up to launch the OnePlus 7 and OnePlus 7 Pro on May 14th, and while we were all pretty sure they’d be among the fastest smartphones out there (that’s something you can trust OnePlus on), DisplayMate today gave OnePlus fans a fresh new surprise.

In a tweet on its official handle, DisplayMate said that the OnePlus 7 Pro’s display has been tested in-depth by them and it received their highest A+ rating in the tests. The exact wordings of the tweet read “DisplayMate’s in-depth Lab Tests of the OnePlus 7 Pro OLED Display have just been completed, earning our Highest A+ Display Rating. Our in-depth Display Shoot-Out will be published here on May 14.”

That’s some high-level praise for the OnePlus 7 Pro’s display, which, the company itself has claimed will be the best display on a OnePlus smartphone ever, and that it costs considerably more than any other display on a OnePlus phone. The A+ rating from DisplayMate puts it right next to high-end flagship smartphones like the Galaxy S10 Plus, which received DisplayMate’s highest ever A+ rating when it launched.

The OnePlus 7 Pro is expected to keep basically the same spec-sheet as the OnePlus 7, but is expected to up its display game with a higher-resolution AMOLED panel with a 90Hz refresh rate — a first for OnePlus smartphones. It will also have a curved display, similar to the Galaxy S10, or the P30 Pro, which should definitely add to the in-hand feel of the phone, even though palm-rejection will be a major focus point with a display like that.

Needless to say, the OnePlus 7 Pro looks like it’s shaping up to be one of the best Android smartphones of the year, and if the company gets the price right on this, it might just be one of their best selling smartphones as well. We’ll get to know the pricing and all the details about the phone on May 14, when it’s officially launched, and DisplayMate has also said that it will publish the full display shoot-out of the OnePlus 7 Pro on that same day; clearly, there’s a lot to look forward to in May.

The Nubia Red Magic 3 Comes with Liquid Cooling and an Internal Fan https://beebom.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/04/nubia-gaming-phone-internal-cooling-featured.jpg

Chinese handset manufacturer Nubia on Sunday announced its new gaming phone Red Magic 3 that comes with 5,000mAh battery and an industry-first built-in cooling system.

Global release of the phone, which was launched in China at a starting price of 3,199 yuan (around Rs 33,205), is slated for May and would come to India soon after, Nubia said in a statement.

While other gaming phones rely on passive cooling, the Red Magic 3 pairs liquid cooling technology with an internal turbo fan, increasing heat transfer 500 per cent, the company claimed.

Powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 processor and Adreno 640 graphics processing unit (GPU), the Red Magic 3 is available in three RAM and storage variants — 6GB+128GB, 8GB+128GB and 12GB+256GB.

While the 6GB+128GB phone is priced at 3,199 yuan, 8GB+128GB and 12GB+256GB variants will be available at 3,499 yuan and 4,299 yuan, respectively.

The Red Magic 3 also features up to 30W quick charging, an hour of gameplay with a 10-minute charge. The 6.65-inch FHD+ HDR AMOLED display boasts 90Hz refresh rate for smooth gaming.

The touch-sensitive shoulder triggers provide additional hardware buttons without the need for a gamepad accessory, Nubia said.

Red Magic 3 could also be your daily driver as the phone features a 48MP rear camera (featuring the Sony IMX586 sensor) and 16MP front camera and runs Android 9 operating system.

Realme 3 Pro vs Redmi Note 7 Pro Camera Comparison: And the Winner is? https://beebom.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/04/redmi-note-7-pro-vs-realme-3-pro-camera-comparison.jpg

redmi note 7 pro vs realme 3 pro - camera comparison

With a profoundly aggressive price tag, Realme 3 Pro made its official debut in India just earlier this week to take on the smartphone, which is better known as the budget king – Redmi Note 7 Pro.

The cameras are important for when you make a buying decision and while Xiaomi has banked on the hype around 48MP sensors to court buyers for its latest budget offering, Realme has resorted to borrowing the camera sensor from its sister company’s flagship smartphone – the OnePlus 6T.

So, let’s not waste any more time and answer the one question which might have been bugging you. How does the Sony IMX519 sensor on Realme 3 Pro compare to the Sony IMX586 on Redmi Note 7 Pro?

Realme 3 Pro vs Redmi Note 7 Pro: Specs

Before we check out the camera samples and see how they compare, here’s a quick peek at the camera specifications for both the smartphones.

The Redmi Note 7 Pro, as most of you, would already know brings along a primary 48MP (f/1.7) rear sensor (the Sony IMX586) coupled with a 5MP (f/2.4) depth sensor. Xiaomi’s not pulling any punches to offer users the best-in-class experience at an affordable price tag.

On the other hand, Realme may not be falling in Xiaomi’s footsteps but it isn’t looking to back down from rivaling the Redmi Note 7 Pro head-on. Realme 3 Pro sports a dual-rear camera setup with a primary 16MP (f/1.7) sensor, along with a 5MP (f/2.4) depth sensor. Realme, which was earlier an Oppo subsidiary, has borrowed the primary rear sensor we have earlier seen on OnePlus 6T.

Let’s head into the comparison and see how the two smartphones compare to each other under different scenarios:

Note: We have resized the camera samples attached below to make it easier for you to view them on the website, without taxing the website and affecting the load times. You, however, can find the Google Drive link to full-resolution images right here.

Realme 3 Pro vs Redmi Note 7 Pro: Daylight photos

Starting off with daylight photos, I would like to tell you a secret. I have been staring at photos from both the smartphones for quite some time now and it has just been pretty difficult to pick one over the other. The Realme 3 Pro and Redmi Note 7 Pro capture some stunning photos, quite comparable at that.

First up, we have this top-down shot of a pancake with fruit toppings and you can easily see that both shots are social media-ready. While the picture from the Redmi Note 7 Pro looks more saturated, the Realme 3 Pro picture has captured more details – see the floor and orange at the top. However, I also feel that the Realme 3 Pro sample lacks the depth which makes the pictures pop.

Next up, we have a close-up shot of these tiny flowers and even though the photo from Realme 3 Pro is more saturated this time, it has more details when you zoom onto the flowers – the white lines in the flowers are more crisp and clear here. Redmi Note 7 Pro surely has a more color accurate picture, with a ton of details, however, I like Realme 3 Pro’s image quality here.

On the other hand, the picture of this caricature shows that Note 7 Pro picture has more details and the shadows are better handled, as compared to the Realme 3 Pro picture. It has also captured a great shot, with better colors, but the shadows are overexposed and that makes the shot look a little unrealistic.

While this picture shows that Note 7 Pro has a higher dynamic range, I feel the Realme 3 Pro trumps it when you compare the cellphone tower photo attached below. So, both the devices have a pretty good dynamic range and shouldn’t falter when you go out and click pictures of landscapes or architectural marvels.

Well, the pictures attached above are the reason that I would pick the Realme 3 Pro for daylight shots as it just produces more detailed and crisp shots. Both phones rely on AI scene detection to produce better pictures and I know, it can make your food or trees in the surrounding too bright, but details are also what matter and Redmi Note 7 Pro, even though it stacks up pretty well – left me wanting more at certain occasions.

If you want to check out more samples, well, here are some for you to compare and tell your opinions in the comments below:

Realme 3 Pro vs Redmi Note 7 Pro: Low-light photos

Moving on to low-light conditions, well, you can see in the sample below to see that the Note 7 Pro sample has exaggerated the blue light from the signage behind me to offer a social media-ready photo. However, Realme 3 Pro clicks more life-like and sharper images, which is why when you zoom in the blinds at the back there is lesser noise and more details.

Among the comparison images below, one thing is surely clear (pun intended) and that’s the images captured from the Realme 3 Pro. They may appear over-sharpened at times, have noise in some cases, and may not be color-accurate (instead you’ll always notice a tinge of yellow introduced, which isn’t the case with Redmi Note 7 Pro) but they’re quite detailed. It’s a hit-and-miss for the 3 Pro, but the Redmi Note 7 Pro has a consistent performance in low-light conditions.

Realme 3 Pro vs Redmi Note 7 Pro: Selfies & Portraits

The selfie trend may have started to dwindle in today’s age, but it’s still really important and that’s the reason how waterdrop notches have come to be. While Redmi Note 7 Pro sports a 13MP camera in a semi-circular dimple whereas the Realme 3 Pro has a 25MP sensor in a fluid dewdrop notch.

Coming to the selfie samples, well, right off the bat you can notice that the selfies from the Realme 3 Pro are over-sharpened while those from the Redmi Note 7 Pro appear soft. I mean, I don’t really adore the selfies from Realme’s camp but I definitely hate the softening that Xiaomi’s phones apply to your bust – and yes, beauty mode was turned off but AI was still enabled.

The selfies from Redmi Note 7 Pro are color accurate for sure and I like that. George’s tee in the second comparison sample is a dark shade of blue, which Note 7 Pro represent well, but Realme 3 Pro has turned it into a darker gray. So, if you don’t mind selfies slightly on the softer side then Redmi should be your pick. I would go for the 3 Pro since selfies from the same look social media-ready and pleasing to see – something users are going to care more about.

Talking about the portraits, well, the Realme 3 Pro yet again comes out on top with more accurate edge detection, color reproduction, and details.

Even in a backlit shot with the sun shining in the background, the Realme 3 Pro is able to discern the subject and surroundings to apply the blur – with a ton of oversharpening, of course. However, the final result is still better than the Note 7 Pro which is soft yet again and the sun is overexposed. In all the other portrait photos you see below, Realme 3 Pro and Redmi Note 7 Pro has edge detection at par with one another, but I think the blur in the latter is more natural and not as strong as the former (but it depends on preference).

You can check out some portrait shots clicked from the rear camera attached down below as well. Again, I have to say that I like the bokeh (which can sometimes be a hit or miss) and colors of the Realme samples more than that of the Redmi Note 7 Pro.

Realme 3 Pro vs Redmi Note 7 Pro: Night Mode

Night time photography has gotten a boost ever since the Pixel 3 launch and the “Night Sight” magic. Long exposure night mode has since found its way to a myriad of phones, with Redmi Note 7 Pro and Realme 3 Pro having this feature as well. So, let’s check out some samples:

In the former set of photos, I prefer the one clicked from the Realme 3 Pro because it’s sharper and has less noise as compared to the Redmi Note 7 Pro. The shadows haven’t been overexposed and I like that. However, if all you’re looking for an illuminated night shot, then Note 7 Pro is better.

The second set of photos, where I come into the picture, the Realme 3 Pro completely destroys the image with a reddish tint and a strong oil-painting effect. The Note 7 Pro certainly looks better than the Realme 3 Pro in this department.

Here’s a zoomed-in look at my face in these pictures to better show you the pronounced oil-painting effect in the Realme 3 Pro. I got this picture clicked more than once thinking my friend’s hand shook during the 3-second capture, however, that wasn’t the case and any number of samples turned out to be the same:

Realme 3 Pro vs Redmi Note 7 Pro: Video Recording

Finally, let’s take a look at the video recording capabilities of both of these smartphones. Realme 3 Pro and Redmi Note 7 Pro enable users to record videos up to 4K resolution at 30fps from the rear camera, but there’s no stabilization in play here. You will see obvious stutters in the footage and we recommend you switch to 1080p video recording at 60fps. This is where the EIS will kick in for both the devices and you’ll get smoother videos.

Let’s take a look and compare the video samples from both the smartphones right here:

The 4K video attached above explains exactly what I said just moments ago. There’s no stabilization and the Realme 3 Pro also seems to be running into focus problems – which can be fixed via a software update. The 4K video recording doesn’t look any good, so we switched to 1080p (60fps) and compare Realme 3 Pro with Redmi Note 7 Pro.

The 1080p video recordings from both the smartphones look equally stabilized, but I like the color profile and overall quality of the Redmi Note 7 Pro. This doesn’t mean that the Realme 3 Pro’s video is any inferior, but the persistent focus problem makes me wary of picking it over the Redmi.

Realme 3 Pro also comes with a super slo-mo mode, which allows you to shoot videos at 720p/960fps, baked in but it isn’t really that good. We’ve compared it to the 960fps super slo-mo mode on the Poco F1 and you can easily notice the stutters and frame drops in the Realme 3 Pro. Here’s the comparison video:

Realme 3 Pro vs Redmi Note 7 Pro Camera Comparison

The answer to who among the Sony IMX519 or Sony IMX586 is better has to be that they are both pretty comparable. Redmi Note 7 Pro and Realme 3 Pro enable you to click some amazing pictures and I like them both, but if I had to pick one, well I’d go with Realme 3 Pro as it delivers a higher dynamic range, produces more detailed and sharp pictures and even low-light photography is pretty decent. The color accuracy is somewhat lacking, and I’ve come across minor focus issues, but Realme can fix them with upcoming updates.

You don’t necessarily need to give into the 48MP hype and can certainly pick up the Realme 3 Pro if you’re looking to click some casual pictures. The Redmi Note 7 Pro’s 48MP cameras are not bad but instead, I would say that both of the smartphones have some of the best cameras in the budget segment.
