After the Quad-camera setup and faster charging, it’s time for high refresh rate displays on smartphones. Smartphone makers have been launching some excellent devices with high refresh rate displays both in premium and budget segments. While features like high refresh rate displays generally find their way to premium smartphones first, in today’s time, we see the flagship features trickle down to budget devices in no time. So in this article, we bring you a comprehensive list of smartphones with 90Hz and 120Hz refresh rate display. We have also mentioned some upcoming smartphones which are going to be launched in the next few months. So with all that said, let’s begin.
List of Smartphones with 90Hz Refresh Rate Display
1. OnePlus 7 Pro, 7T, 7T Pro, Mclaren Edition
OnePlus is one of the first few smartphone makers that spearheaded the high refresh rate trend in smartphone displays. Even before Samsung, OnePlus brought the OnePlus 7 Pro, 7T, 7T Pro and its Mclaren Edition with a 90Hz display panel. Further, the display is accompanied by excellent AMOLED panel and you have the option to force 90Hz refresh rate all the time — unlike the Pixel 4. So if you are looking for the best smartphone that comes with a higher refresh rate, I would say OnePlus devices having a 90Hz display panel is a much-balanced product in terms of both battery efficiency and fluid performance.

The Pixel 4 and Pixel 4 XL both come with a 90Hz display, however, it deploys a dynamic mechanism to switch between 60Hz and 90Hz refresh rate to save battery. Further, at low brightness, the refresh rate is switched to 60Hz. Nevertheless, you have the option to force 90Hz refresh rate all the time from the Developer Options. All in all, if you want the clean Google experience with a dash of higher refresh rate then the Pixel 4 series is also a great option.

After a long break, Poco finally released its second smartphone which indeed turned out to be a rebranded Redmi K30. Nevertheless, the phone is amazing and brings a 120Hz refresh rate display although in an LCD panel. I don’t have any problems with LCD displays as far as Xiaomi’s panels are concerned. Further, I have used the Poco X2 for quite some time and can say that it’s the best budget smartphone out there with a higher 120Hz refresh rate display.

Apart from that, all the smartphones under the S20 lineup have top-of-the-line Dynamic AMOLED panel with support for Always-on display too.

14. K30 Pro
Except for the Poco X2 and Mi 10, Xiaomi does not have a long list of devices with 90Hz or 120Hz display. However, that is going to change with K30 Pro in a few weeks. Rumors suggest that it will pack the Snapdragon 865 and an AMOLED screen having a 120Hz refresh rate display. While the specs look great on the paper, we want to see how Xiaomi positions the device in the Indian market. You can expect the launch within the next two months in India.
15. OnePlus 8 Series
OnePlus in its earlier launch promised that all their upcoming smartphones will have a high refresh rate display to make the Android experience fast and fluid. And now, we are hearing that OnePlus will be releasing three devices this year: OnePlus 8 Lite and OnePlus 8 with a 90Hz display; OnePlus 8 Pro supposedly with a 120Hz display. That’s going to be awesome, right? So it’s going to be an exciting high refresh rate face-off between the Galaxy S20 series and OnePlus 8 series, hopefully in April.
16. Oppo Reno3 Pro and Find X2
Oppo is going to launch two of its flagship devices, the Oppo Reno3 Pro and Find X2 in March this year. Nubia is going one step ahead than other smartphone makers and bringing a 144Hz refresh rate display with its 5G variant. Apart from that, the device will have a 6.65-inch display and a battery capacity of 4400mAh. It recently passed the TENAA certification and will be launching in China, India and other markets within a few months.
18. Black Shark 3
With Nubia and Asus bringing smartphones having high refresh rate displays for gamers, Xiaomi has also entered the fray with its game-centric smartphone, Black Shark. Rumors suggest that Black Shark 3 will pack a 120Hz refresh rate display and will have a 270Hz sampling rate so the touch response while gaming will be excellent. You can expect the launch in early March, but it might be limited to China only.
