Nvidia GeForce RTX ‘SUPER’ GPUs Coming to Laptops: Report https://beebom.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/07/farmto-table-5.jpg

Nvidia unveils new RTX Super graphics cards

Nvidia is reportedly looking to introduce the ‘SUPER’ branding to its mobile GPU lineup. The company has already phased out the RTX 2070 and 2080 graphics cards on desktops and replaced them with SUPERs, and now, according to a report from PCGamesN, it is now planning to planning to introduce SUPER-branded laptop GPUs that are said to be, on average, 50 percent faster than their predecessors.

The report claims to have accessed an “internal performance slide” that it says shows the relative frame-rate deltas of the top two new laptop graphics cards, the RTX 2070 SUPER and the RTX 2080 SUPER, against the rest of the existing GeForce mobile GPUs. The architecture of the upcoming GPUs is yet unclear, but the report speculates that they might be based on the same TU104 GPU as the old RTX lineup.

Nvidia announced its first set of GeForce RTX SUPER graphics cards during E3 2019 as replacement for its popular Ti-series GPUs, offering PC gamers best-in-class performance with real-time ray tracing capabilities. The most affordable one of the lot, the GTX 2060 SUPER, comes with 2176 CUDA cores, 8GB GDDR6 memory, 7+7 TOPs (FP32+INT32) and 57 Tensor TFLOPs, all of which combine for up to 22 percent faster performance than the standard RTX 2060.

The company has since expanded the SUPER lineup to the mid-range market with cards like the GeForce GTX 1650 Super and GeForce GTX 1660 Super that were launched late last year. Aimed at the mainstream market, the cards come with the same TU116 GPU as the standard models, but include faster GDDR6 memory instead of the older GDDR5 technology.
