Essential Phone Gets Stable Android 10 Update Alongside Pixel Devices https://beebom.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/03/essential-phone-update.jpg

essential phone update

True to form, Andy Rubin’s Essential Products has yet again released the latest version of Android to its sole smartphone, the PH-1, on the very first day of its release. The company had done that last year with Android 9 Pie, and now it is rolling out Android 10 to the device on the same day that Google started rolling it out to all three generations of its Pixel smartphones.

Unlike last year, though, this time around the Essential PH-1 is not the only one to be getting a taste of Android 10 on Day-1. As has widely been reported already, Xiaomi surprised its fans and critics alike by rolling out the update to its Redmi K20 Pro in China and India, although the international variant of the device – marketed as the Mi 9T Pro – is yet to get the update.

Going back to the Essential Phone, the company said that the update is rolling out to ‘select Open Market customers’, which means it is only applicable to those who bought the unlocked version of the phone. That being the case, those who bought their devices from their carriers might still have to wait a while longer to get a taste of the delicious new release.

As can be seen from the embedded tweet above, Android 10 brings a number of goodies to the Essential Phone, including enhanced gesture-based navigation, Smart Reply and more granular privacy options. However, one of the greatest and most-awaited features is a system-wide Dark Mode that has been a persistent demand from die-hard Android fans over the past several years.
